Low Tide
47″ X 29″
$1800
I am drawn to the sea in many regards. I long for the sound, smell, and sheer energy of it. ‘Low Tide’ focuses on the simplicity of the patterns created on the natural landscape when the water rushes the sand and recedes hundreds of times — what is left at low tide.
The edge of the ocean is one of the more untouched areas of this earth. We are beginning to experience crowding just a few yards inland where the views are magnificent and access to the beaches are easy, as well as development, possible. If one stands right at water’s edge, facing out, it is easy to imagine solitude in the middle of humanity.
Fabric collage created with hand-dyed cotton fabrics, quilted with a variety of polyester and silk threads. The pieces of the collage are permanently fused and stitched, prior to quilting.
