Tubbs Hill is a popular hiking area, a block from my home, that has wonderful trails and views of the lake. I hike there regularly, during all seasons, and often bring my sketchbook to capture the details of plants, wildlife, and the terrain. Each year, spring bursts into life with the first warm, dry days. This piece captures some of that detail, but mostly my feelings of sitting in the sun and listening to the hill come to life after winter.
Wet collage, machine and hand embroidery. Repurposed cotton sheets and silk organza, painted, monoprinted, distressed, rubbed and torn.
